In an increasingly environmentally conscious world, sooner or later the survival of a trade fair company will hinge on sustainability. At the same time, sustainability is also becoming a top-of-mind issue for customers of the trade fair and conference sector. Almost 20 years ago, the German trade fair industry laid down principles for hosting trade fairs in an environmentally sound manner. Today the industry is putting considerable effort into making all aspects of the trade fair business sustainable.

Comfort with a clear conscience

As the second largest trade fair location in the new federal states, Messe Erfurt GmbH has established itself as a forum for companies and consumers in the centre of Germany. Each year, around 200 events take place here, drawing over 7,000 exhibitors and some 600,000 visitors.

Its central location and ease of access are also turning the Free State of Thuringia into an increasingly popular location for conferences and conventions. This trend will grow stronger with the opening of the new Inter City Express (ICE) rail hub at Erfurt in 2017. Naturally the Congress Center and all the exhibition halls are multifunctional and the building infrastructure is ecologically and economically sound.

Messe Erfurt has long made every effort to ensure that all aspects of the trade fair business are sustainable – from organisation, booth construction, and hosting of supporting events, to show-related traffic and energy consumption.

It's only natural. At Messe Erfurt the environment and guest comfort go hand in hand. Energy efficient measures are aimed at achieving profitable results for everyone involved.
