Launch of the 3D Pioneers Challenge 2019

EUR 35,000 € prize money awaits the winners Online registration now possible

Already for the fourth time the unique 3D Pioneers Challenge, as the platform for pioneers in 3D printing, covers a range of verticals and is aimed at designers who are breaking new ground in the field of 3D printing, taking into account the complete value-added system of additive technologies and understand the key trends of the industry. The prize money for the winners was significantly increased once again for 2019.

The Challenge is addressed to specialists from around the world who are thinking outside the box and - pushing boundaries. Additive manufacturing is one of the innovations of the 21st century. Hardly a day goes by without that this technology surprises with something new. Meanwhile it is part in higher education programs and at technological universities or institutes. 3D printing is standing on the threshold to be integrated into industrial manufacturing processes. For some time now, the technology is not pushing its way to the fore – but as hidden champion, it acts as an "enabler" of many concepts and innovations, and even of completely new business fields. The needs of humans are in the foreground through individual solutions. Spare parts procurement is being rethought. Last but not least, lightweight construction creates sustainability. Social projects are only made possible by 3D printing in some areas.
But pioneer thinking also requires the courage to put it into practice, breaking new ground. And these courageous pioneers are awarded in the 3D Pioneers Challenge (3DPC).

In 2019 are pioneers wanted who think 3D printing one step further. Where is it enabler, where is it in the main focus? The fourth edition of the design competition is announced in the categories Design, MedTech, FashionTech, Material, Architecture, Digital, Mobility as well as Sustainability as a new focus. All interested parties can register by 15 March 2019 at the latest. This year the 3D Pioneers Challenge has a total of EUR 35.000 of prize money, kindly supported by the Ministry of Economics, Science and Digital Society Thuringia. Several other prizes are awarded by 3DPC partners. The 3D Pioneers Challenge is thus one of the highest endowed design competitions of 3D printing worldwide.

„We are glad about the great support that our design competition receives from the Thuringian Ministry of Economics, Science and Digital Society as well as from our numerous cooperation partners. This shows the importance of our challenge in the world of additive manufacturing. I am sure that the global reputation of the competition will continue to grow in 2019“, said Michael Kynast, CEO of Messe Erfurt GmbH.

The organizers of the 3D Pioneers Challenge, Simone and Christoph Völcker, are enthusiastic about "the international jury of experts, i.e. with representatives of Bauhaus University Weimar in their anniversary year “100 years of Bauhaus” or Andrej Kupetz of the German Design Council, Patrik Schumacher of Zaha Hadid Architects, designer Ross Lovegrove and the list of first-class partners, including Stratasys, Autodesk, Würth Elektronik eiSos, BASF, Farsoon Europe, Deutsche Bahn, DDC Deutscher Designer Club (patron of the 3DPC). With our partners, we have true experts and high-class representatives from the fields of design, application and industry at our side", Simone and Christoph said.

The finalists’ submissions will be exhibited at Rapid.Tech + FabCon 3.D in Erfurt (25 - 27 June 2019) at a special area for the 3DPC exhibition. The award ceremony will take place in Erfurt as part of a gala evening on 26 June 2019. The exhibits of the finalists will be taken on a roadshow on international events afterwards.

Submission deadline 15 March 2019
