1st “CAD/CAM and Rapid Prototyping in Dental Technology” Trade Conference

The annual trade fair and users' conference for rapid technology, Rapid.Tech in Erfurt, is now firmly established as a key professional gathering for all those working with additive fabrication processes. Such processes are vital, above all in medical technology. That’s why the organisers are offering a special exhibition and conference on rapid prototyping for the first time this year. The trade conference “CAD/CAM and Rapid Prototyping in Dental Technology” to be held on 26 and 27 May 2009 is aimed at dental technicians and dentists, developers and technologists.

It’s now hard to imagine dentistry without rapid prototyping, yet keeping track of developments in the booming CAD/CAM market is not easy – and that’s what organisers and speakers at the trade conference are aiming to change. Expert model and mould-maker Antonius Köster from Meschede is one of the key figures behind the conference and is providing expert advice. He will be speaking on “Hightech versus Handwerk – Bedrohung oder Chance” [“High-tech versus professional expertise – risk or opportunity?”]. The senior physician Dr. med. dent. Sebastian Quaas and the Master Dental Technologists Jörg Bressem and Wolfgang Sokalla will also be discussing with conference participants which innovations are really suited for dental practice. Users will be reporting their experiences of introducing new technologies into their laboratories, and participants will learn how simply integrating new CAM programmes can significantly increase processing equipment efficiency. Scanner systems, rapid prototyping procedures and a range of software solutions will be presented and participants will be given an insight into technologies to watch in the future.

The conference is well worth a visit for both dental technicians with CAD/CAM experience and for novices in the field. The Rapid.Tech trade fair with special exhibitions on medical technology and design will be on at the same time, so participants will not only be offered a comprehensive introduction to the topic, they will also have the chance to get to grips with additive fabrication processes in a wide range of sectors.
