Lufthansa Technik uses additive manufacturing in many areas. From the development of individual parts for the completion of VIP aircraft to the installation of additively manufactured components in aircraft fleets, which are developed and certified in small series. Lufthansa Technik uses additive manufacturing for both the design and redesign of cabin components. Particularly in the area of VIP aircraft interiors, additive manufacturing helps to design cabin components that are tailored to individual customer requirements. LHT also uses additive manufacturing to redesign conventional components. However, such components are not simply rebuilt, but their function is improved. This presentation will focus on the topic of AM-compatible development of components and their approval, including the challenges and future potential of additive manufacturing for Lufthansa Technik. Practical examples will provide an insight into the challenges and potential of additively manufactured components in the aircraft cabin.
